Red Dodge Viper SRT-10 from Wanted

High-tech car chases often involve fast moving stunts made possible with the use of CGI and special effects.  In the movie, Wanted, the assassin Fox (played by Angelina Jolie), had to save Wesley (played by James McAvoy) from getting killed by another assassin in the middle of a busy street.  To do so, Fox executed a perfectly clean sweep by skidding sideways on the asphalt with the passenger door open and catching Wesley gently onto the passenger seat.  Can't miss the scene, it's in the movie trailer.

red dodge viper srt-10 wanted

What I like about the scene though is the car the she used...a sleek, red Dodge Viper SRT-10.  Not sure what year, but it was one hell of a nice car driven by gorgeous woman.  What happened after the rescue is a fast pace shoot out in the evening city streets with the viper jumping off a bus that it had just knocked down for a landing.  A really neat car chase.

Dodge Vipers are fantastic looking sports car.  Truly modern and sleek.  Yet, retaining the American muscle vibe that's missing in most modern day sports car design.  Built to compete with Corvettes, Porsche 911, and Ferrari 550's, Chrysler heavily marketed the Viper in the racing circuits and even served as a pace car a handful of times for the Indianapolis 500.

1968 Plymouth Barracuda Super Stock 426 Hemi from Highwaymen

If you're gonna hunt a hunter, doing it in style is a must.  Going after a maniac who uses a 1972 Cadillac Eldorado to kill his victims requires an equally compelling car to hunt him down.

That's what Jim Caviezel did in the movie Highwaymen, co-starring the super babe Rhona Mitra (who drove a 2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed in Doomsday).  Caviezel drove a 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Super Stock Hemi to hunt the man who killed his wife.

I never heard of the movie, Highwaymen, until I saw it on the shelf of a local DVD rental store by my house and I had to see it.  Turned out to be pretty good.

1973 Chevy Impala: Kramer's Ass Man Car from Seinfeld

Seinfeld is my favorite comedy show in the 90's and I still watch it on reruns today.  Although a sitcom largely in and around the city of New York where there are plenty of public mass transport available, Jerry and his friends use their automobiles from time to time.

One funny episode involves Kramer's green 1973 Chevy Impala as he was mistakenly given the vanity plate, "ASS MAN".  Actually the official episode name is "The Fusilli".  I like the scene where Kramer parked in a doctor's parking spot and pointed to the license plate as a garage attendant was about to ask him to leave.  "Kosmo Kramer, proctologist," he said to the attendant and everything was cool.  Subsequent scene in the streets had people hooting and hollering at him, "Hey Ass Man!"

2006 Ford Mustang GT from Death Race

The movie is a remake of a 1975 film called Death Race 2000 starring David Carradine (RIP, 1936-2009).  In the movie, prisoners are used as entertainment contestants in a no holds barred automobile race.  Contestants can outfit their cars with weapons, armors, and any other gadgets that will allow them to win races.  The prize?  Freedom.  But there's always a catch...

Thin on plot and character, Death Race excels in pure metal to metal action.  Cars are beefed up to look more like war wagons than race cars.  It's videogame-like in the way cars are driven in and around the race track.  And there's no shortage of bullets hailing death to the unlucky.

Jason Statham in the lead role pretty much delivers his standard tough guy character.  Death Race is Jason's 3rd movie car entry in this blog by the way.  He drove an Audi A8L in Transporter 3 and a MINI Cooper S in The Italian Job

In Death Race he's driving the Frankenstein Monster, a 2006 Ford Mustang GT, "outfitted with a Roush supercharged 5.4L 3V Ford V8 Engine. 'Frankenstein's Monster' is armed with 2 mounted mini-guns that shoot 3,000 rounds (of real bullets) per minute, flamethrowers and napalm." (source: IMDB)

Jeep Wrangler TJ from Vampires

Hunting vampires in the modern day Southwest can be tough work.  Naturally, one needed a rugged car to do what needs to get done.  In a rough desert terrain, Jeep Wranglers would do.  A well outfitted Jeep can make a great reliable workhorse.  At least that's what Jack Crow (played by James Woods) and his team of vampire hunters preferred.

The Jeep Wrangler TJ used in the movie, Vampires, was not involved in anything spectacular.  There were no highspeed highway chases.  No jumps.  No crashes.  But it was heavily used in a lot of scenes, basically highlighting it's reliability and durability, whether the filmmakers intended to do so or not.

What I liked in particular was how the team used the Jeep to pull vampires from their nest and out to sunlight where they exploded in bright colors.  That was an unusual piece of vampire hunting.  Vampires who have superhuman strength were out muscled by Jeeps.  Who'd have thought that American brawn can be so effective.

1957 Ford Thunderbird from Sin City

In Sin City, Dwight (played by Clive Owen) took to the task of hiding Jack Rafferty's (played by Benicio Del Toro) body before the mob and police find out that the hero cop, also known as Iron Jack, was killed by the "girls". It will be very bad for the "girls" if the police discovered what happened.  So Dwight planned to hide Jack's body in the tar pits.

"Get me a hardtop with a decent engine and make sure it's got a big trunk," said Dwight so that he may leave immediately with Jack's body.  Perhaps he should have asked for a full tank of gas as well because he ended up pushing the car to the pits when it ran out of gas early.

2008 Bentley Continental GT Speed from Doomsday

I'm a sucker for good car chase scenes.  The faster, the better.  The more violent, ...  Well, not necessarily better, but if done right, then it is spectacular.  Right off the bat, the most memorable car chase scene I can think off and the most badass of them all is the big finale in The Road Warrior.  Mel Gibson in a rig getting chased by the Humungus and his gang of desert marauders.

That car chase has not been repeated in cinema until the movie Doomsday, starring Rona Mitra as the tough as nails heroine, Eden Sinclair.  To make her escape from the quarantined zone, Sinclair and two of her companions had to drive through a long stretch of Scottish highway back to Britain while being chased by homicidal post-punk maniacs.  This chase scene was reminiscent of The Road Warrior, complete with guys in leather and mohawks.  The car that Sinclair drove was a Bentley Continental GT Speed.

2007 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500 SVT from I Am Legend

Ever ponder what car you'd drive if money was not a problem?  Well, in the movie, I Am Legend, we learn that Dr. Robert Neville picked a Ford Expedition and, sometimes, perhaps his weekend car, a 2007 Ford Shelby GT 500 SVT.

For those who haven't seen the movie, I say that money was no problem because there was a virus that wiped out practically all human lives in Manhattan, New York with the exception of Dr. Neville, played by Will Smith, and his dog.  He was the last man on earth and, in the beginning of the movie, he was driving around town in a Ford Shelby GT500. He could have driven a Ferrari. He could have been behind the wheels of a Jaguar. Yet, he was hunting deer in a sleek red and white Mustang Shelby GT 500.

There was something special about how the car was really shiny and glistening among the dilapidated streets of New York.  Makes you wonder if he washed and waxed the car or did he just pick it up as the film began.

Audi A8L W12 from Transporter 3

Speed and power does not always have to come in the shape of muscle.  The Transporter 3 starring Jason Statham as Frank Martin proves that with a 2003 Audi A8 D3.  Trekking from Marseille to the Black Sea in a black Audi luxury sedan with a gorgeous red head (Natalya Rudakova) can't be all that bad, unless you have a wireless triggered bomb strapped on to your wrist.

Also, this is the second movie with Jason Statham.  He's also in The Italian Job as Handsome Rob who drove around in a white Mini Cooper S in a gold heist.  Jason Statham is in a bunch more movies with cool cars.  He'll have several entries in this blog.

In the 3rd installment of the Transporter series, Frank Martin drives essentially the same car that he drove in the second movie.  Both cars are Audi A8 L W12.  The top of the line 12 cylinder, 450 hp full-sized sedan.  These cars retail for $110,000 and up.  He drove a different car in the first Transporter, a nice BMW.

Interestingly enough, the W12 engine that runs the Audi A8L is made by Volkswagen and powers many other high end luxury sedans, namely Bentley Continental GT, Bentley Continental Flying Spur, Spyker C12 LaTurbie, Spyker C12 Zagato, Spyker D12 Peking-to-Paris, Volkswagen Phaeton, and Volkswagen Touareg W12.

1982 Pontiac Trans-Am, the Knight Rider KITT Car

Of course I'm talking about the 80's show that lasted four seasons with David Hasselhoff.  The 2006 series did not even last two seasons.

The KITT car is number 5 in a list of 50 most famous cars of all time.  Number 1, 2, 3, and 4 in that list are respectively, Eleanor, the 1967 Shelby Mustang from Gone in 60 Seconds (2002), 1981 De Lorean DMC 12 from Back to the Future, 1963 Volkswagen Beetle from Herbie the Love Bug, and the General Lee, the 1969 Dodge Charger from Dukes of Hazard.  I'd probably put the General Lee at number one.

Fifth place is not bad, though I think more people, who are not car buffs, would recognize the KITT car over the Shelby Mustang.  In my youth, this car was all over the place and my neighbor had one.  Looking back, I believe that the contemporary sports car back then were the Camaro IROC Z, Mustang 5.0 (Vanilla Ice video), Toyota Supra, and the Mazda RX-7.  Out of all of them, I've always preferred the Mustang 5.0.  And then, the Mazda RX-7 because of the rotary engine.

Ghostbusters Ecto-1: a 1959 Cadillac Ambulance

Wanna get around town in style?  Plenty of ways to do it.  Most will likely pick their favorite exotic sports car, like a Ferrari or a Jaguar.  Others may go with vintage muscle cars, like a Shelby Mustang or the classic Dodge Charger.  But really, if you want heads to turn, try getting around in a 1959 Cadillac Ambulance Miller-Meteor Futura, the Ecto 1.

C'mon, just like Ray, Egon, Winston, and Venkman.  I think it'll be cool.

In order to rid the world (or at least New York) of paranormal terror, the Ghosbusters needed to get around.  Their ride had to match their zany job.  And they came up with the Ecto1, sometimes referred to as Ectomobile.

1996 BMW E36 328is from Shoot 'Em Up

I just saw an interesting movie last night.  I rented Shoot 'Em Up starring Clive Owens, Paul Giamatti, and the ever hot Monica Bellucci.  It's a very enjoyable movie.  You just have to check your sense and sensibilities at the door and enjoy the ride.  It reminded me of Desperado with Antonio Banderas.  Except that Shoot 'Em Up has a great car chase.

Towards the end of the film, Smith (played by Clive Owens) was trying to throw off Hertz (Paul Giamatti) and his gang of thugs so that Donna (Monica Bellucci) and the baby may get away.  Smith jumped into a parked red 1996 BMW E36 328IS...literally.  He went through the sunroof by jumping from a building and landing in the driver's seat.  Smith was then followed by Hertz's crew with guns ablazing.  The car proved very tough under extreme conditions as it was shot up and rolled over a few times.  The chase didn't end until Smith drove it headlong onto a van carrying a group of Hertz's thugs.

Of course, it's a movie and the action is over-the-top.  I'm pretty sure that a BMW 328IS is not able take that kind of punishment.  Nevertheless, it's a nice little sports coupe that caught my attention.  Living in the Los Angeles area, I see plenty of BMWs.  They're very common and only a handful of them catch my eyes on the road.  On occasions, it takes an incredible movie shot for me to actually pay attention.  Being shot up and rolling a few times certainly qualify for that.

1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT 500 aka Eleanor from Gone in 60 Seconds

In the 2000 movie, Gone in 60 Seconds, Memphis Raines and his crew of professional car thieves were to boost 50 specific cars in one night.  In order to mislead eavesdropping cops, the gang nicknamed each car on the list with that of a woman's name.  Naturally, the list contained some of the most exotic vehicles known to man such as a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible a.k.a. Stefanie, 1995 Ferrari 355 B a.k.a. Diane, and a 1994 Jaguar XJ 220 a.k.a. Bernadene.

Among the coolness stood Eleanor, a 1967 Ford Shelby Mustang GT500.  Equipped with 428 Police Interceptor engine rated over 350 hp, the raw power of the GT500 was legendary.

There were two models of Shelbys made in 1967, the GT350 and the GT500.  With only a total of 3,225 between the two models made in 1967, Shelby mustangs were (and still are) very rare.  They were so hard to find that replicas had to be used in the movie.  Twelve 1967 Ford Mustang Fastbacks were retrofitted to look like 1967 Shelby Mustangs for used throughout the movie.  Only one true Shelby was used.  And that was at the very end when Kip (played by Giovanni Ribisi) gave Memphis a Shelby as a gift.

$2750 towards a new 2009 Pontiac G6: Worth it?

I received a letter over the weekend from GM.  It's the form letter to their customers on GM's current bankruptcy  proceedings.  It mentioned that GM is seeking buyers for Saturn and Saab.  Also, the letter stated that they just sold the HUMMER brand.  And it also included the phasing out of the Pontiac brand.  So no more GTOs.  No more Firebirds.  And no more Grand Ams.

The letter also included the GM Owner Appreciation Cash Certificate offering cash incentives towards the purchase of a new GM car from a selection.  Curious thing -- some Pontiacs were part of the selection.  The incentives for Pontiacs went as follows:

- $2,750 towards a 2009 Pontiac G6
- $2,500 towards a Pontiac G8
- $2,000 towards a Potiac G3, G5, G6 (2009.5), Solstice, Torrent, or a Vibe

I thought the Pontiac brand was being phased out.  Only the Vibe was announced as the sole lineup for 2010. So why would anyone wanna buy a Pontiac right now?

That's too bad.  If my choices were limited to only the above, I'd go for a G6 convertible.  It fits my style.  Although, I'm not sure how Pontiacs are when it comes to reliability.  It's been awhile since I paid attention to them since a friend of mine traded in his Grand Am for a Toyota pickup over 10 years ago.

Although, if I were to buy Pontiacs for car collection, I'd begin with the GTOs and the Trans Ams.  Those cars will be prized possessions, if not already.

2002 Nissan 350Z from The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift

I just finish watching The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift DVD.  It's the 3rd installment of The Fast and the Furious series and it's pretty good.  The movie goes to show you that anywhere in the civilized world, guys love car and women.  The DVD is great because it has vignettes that talk about the production behind a big budget street racing movie.  I like how they trained the actors on drifting cars at the Irwindale Speedway which is not very far from my house.

As expected, the movie is filled with top Japanese sports cars tricked out for street racing, and specifically, drifting.  But I like how they sprinkle in good ole American muscle cars to finish the meal -- 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo, 2003 Dodge Viper SR-T, 1967 Ford Mustang, and 1970 Plymouth Road Runner with Vin Diesel in a cameo.  I admit that I have mix feelings on the 1967 Ford Mustang chassis being retrofitted with a Nissan engine.  Because then, it's not really a mustang.

Of all the cars, the one that stood out to me is Morimoto's gold 2002 Nissan Fairlady Z.  The gold touch against the dark Tokyo streets make it glimmer and shiny.  It's also a powerful car with a supercharged 3.5 L VQ35DE V6 that can produce 360-370 horsepower at the rear wheels. Speaking of wheels, it is equipped with Toyo T1R 255/40/ZR18 at the front and Toyo T1R 275/35/ZR19 at the rear.

1961 Jaguar E-Type from Austin Powers

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery is one of the funniest movies I enjoy. It's probably Mike Meyer's best work since he left Saturday Night Live. Wayne's World is another one with a car in it. Maybe I'll get around to posting something on Wayne's AMC Pacer. But for now, let's talk about the Shaguar. Yeah baby, yeah!

The 1961 Jaguar E-Type is prominently seen during the intro of the movie. Austin uses it to get away from his frenzied fans after somersaulting onto the convertible chassis. See the video clip of Austin Powers 1 opening scene below:

After doing some quick research on the Jaguar E-Type, I come to find out that the US version was designated Jaguar XK-E. But it seems like most US car buffs do not refer to the car that way. A quick search on eBay reveals many more Jaguar E-Type listings than Jaguar XK-E listings and these are cars located in the US.

1967 Chevy Impala: The Metallicar from CW's Supernatural

Dean Winchester's rock 'n' roll car. It's dubbed the Metallicar by the show's fans. I don't think it was ever called that by the brothers or any of the characters.

For those not familiar with CW's Supernatural, it's an ongoing struggle of human hunters trying to stop hell's demons from taking over earth. Two of the hunters, the brothers Sam and Dean Winchesters, travel all over the country in Dean's black 1967 Chevy Impala to fight ghosts, vampires, werewolves, demons, and other supernatural creatures.

1967 Pontiac GTO built for Triple X to go on Auction

I came across this.  There's a car auction in El Segundo, California on August 1, 2009 for a restored 1967 Pontiac GTO like the one driven by Vin Diesel in the 2002 movie, Triple X.  It's a fun action movie, directed by Rob Cohen, the same guy who directed The Fast and the Furious, also starring Vin Diesel.

I always knew that GTOs were powerful cars.  This particular GTO was fitted with a big block Chevy V-8.  I'm not sure if this car was actually used in the movie. But since I live in Southern California, I may take a trip to El Segundo next month.

A quick research on the 1967 Pontiac GTO from Edmunds.com reveals 3 things to remember:
  • (1) The top engine option was a high-output 400 cubic inch Ram Air, four-barrel Quadra Jet carb rated conservatively at 360 hp.  Talk about classic American muscle.

  • (2) It had a three-speed automatic transmission that could be operated manually through a
    Hurst "dual-gate" shifter.

  • (3) Only 56 units were built with a Ram Air engine.  Very rare and valuable if you can get one of these.

You can check out a video clip of at '67 GTO burning rubber at a competition. Lots of smoke.

Transformers Bumblebee updates from 1977 Z28 to a 2010 Chevy Camaro

Perhaps the best known Transformer from the 2007 blockbuster hit was Bumblebee.  He had been Sam Witwicky's (played by Shia LaBeouf) personal bodyguard throughout the confrontation with the Decepticons.  He also helped Sam get the girl (Mikaela Banes played by Megan Fox).

Curiously enough, Bumblebee began as a 1977 Chevy Camaro Z28, yellow with racing stripes.  He was a bit dusty with worn out colors.  But I thought he was pretty cool.  I've always liked Camaros.  I think it's one of the best sports cars ever made.

In the 80's Transformers cartoons, Bumblebee was a VW bug.  So turning him into a Camaro was, at least to me, an already great move.  He was sold to Sam by Bernie Mac (R.I.P.) in a cameo for $4000 (brought down from $5000).

Sometime after hooking up with Sam and after saving his life from Barricade (the Saleen 281 Mustang police squad car), Bumblebee switched from a 1977 Camaro Z28 to a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro which was a concept car at the time (on sale March 2009).  The new Camaro was pretty cool, too.  Maybe it's just the way the movie shot it, but the new Camaro looked wider than the 1977 model.

1981 DeLorean DMC from Back to the Future

I liked Back to the Future (1985) on so many levels.  Funny, memorable, and highly entertaining, it has near flawless time travel story, at least one that didn't leave a gaping plot hole to ponder with.  It had quirky and goofy characters in George McFly, Biff, and Doc Brown.  Great music.  And, of course, the coolest time machine ever - a De Lorean!

Doc Brown invented time travel in 1985 and built the time machine using a De Lorean.  And according to him, "[I]f you're gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?"  This gave Doc Brown instant street cred for taste.  Not so much for fashion, but taste in cars and gadgets.

1971 Ford Custom 500 in White Lightning

If you're gonna sling moonshine all around Arkansas, you'll have to have a very fast, powerful car. In case of Gator McKlusky, aptly played by Burt Reynolds, it's a brown 1971 Ford Custom 500 for the movie White Lightning (1973). His car from a series of beefed-up full sized cars built by Ford for the car buffs who liked their speed, power, and room to stretch their legs.

1971 ford custom 500 white lightning

These full size cars were typically Ford Galaxies or LTDs equipped with V6's, ho-hum family economy cars. But when fitted with a V8 429 Police Interceptor / Cobra Jet engine and black steel wheels with Cooper Tire Wide Runner Polyglas tires, they became stars.

1966 Ford Thunderbird from Thelma and Louise

Thelma & Louise was an award winning 1991 movie about chicks on the lam in the American midwestern highway.  After killing a would-be rapist at a roadside bar, the two friends, Thelma played by Geena Davis and Louise played by Susan Sarandon, took off in a '66 Thunderbird to escape immediate prosecution of the law as they tried to figure out what to do next.  They were afraid that no one would believe that it was self-defense and that they'd be prosecuted as murderers. So they decided to head for Mexico, but had to take the long way around Texas.

1966 ford thunderbird thelma and louise car

What came next was the discovery of freedom for Thelma who lived in a smothering marriage, timid and afraid of her husband.  It was her decision to never go back to her old life that strengthened her to goad Louise into driving over the cliff instead of surrendering to the state police and FBI.

I thought that Thelma & Louise was a great movie, revolving around friendship between two friends in desperate situation who cared a lot about each other.  The spectacular cinematography in the desert highways was calling out "freedom" to the audience.

Toyota Prius in CW's Reaper

I never intend to just blog about cars seen in the big screen.  There are plenty of cool cars in the small screens as well, especially from the 70's and 80's.  Who could forget the cars in Miami Vice, Magnum PI, The Dukes of Hazard, and Knightrider?

However, one of my favorite shows today is rumored to have been cancelled, but may make a comeback in a different network.  That show is Reaper, a comedy about an ordinary guy who became hell's reluctant bounty hunter on earth because his parents sold his soul to the Devil.  It's a CW show that comes on at 8PM on Tuesdays.  I'm a sucker for shows like these, including Buffy and Charmed.

toyota prius CW reaper sam's car

Other than being a really funny show with likeable characters, one other thing strikes me about Reaper.  The lead guy, Sam Oliver played by Brett Harrison, drives a Toyota Prius.  I missed the early episodes, but sometime in the beginning, Sam's parents felt guilty over selling his soul to the devil, so they bought him a Prius.

MINI Cooper S from The Italian Job

How do you steal a scene from Charlize Theron? Easy, be a MINI Cooper S. At least that's how most who saw the movie remember the film The Italian Job released in 2003. The movie itself, a remake of a 1969 British movie of the same name starring Michael Caine, was a hit. And the MINI Coopers in the last act were the stars.

What stood out in my mind in recalling the movie were the MINIs being driven around inside Steve's (Ed Norton) house through the hallways. Of course, the house was a very big mansion. But nevertheless, a car being driven inside it was something unusual and pretty cool at the same time.

1999 Ford SVT Lightning from The Fast and the Furious

In a movie about illegal street racing and filled with muscle cars and modded imports, a truck stood out.  That truck was the 1999 Ford SVT Lightning that Brian O'Connor initially drove in the beginning of the movie as we first met him.  Bright red against a drab background, the SVT Lightning looked fast even if simply parked.

red 1999 ford svt lightning the fast and the furious

A modded F-150 (Ford's most popular full-size pickup truck), the SVT Lightning (SVT stands for Special Vehicle Team) was made to mainly compete with GM's sport performance trucks, the GMC Syclone and the Chevrolet 454 SS.  The 1999 Ford SVT Lightning used in the movie was a second generation SVT with a 5.4 L supercharged Triton V8 dishing out 360 hp and 440 ft·lb of torque.

Only 4000 trucks were produced in 1999 (source: Wikipedia).

1996 Ferrari F355 Spider from The Rock

In a film filled with guns, explosions, and military action, car chases can steal the movie.  That's basically the case with the 1996 action-packed, Michael Bay flick The Rock starring Nicholas Cage, Sean Connery, and Ed Harris.

One of its most memorable scene was Nicholas Cage "commandeering" a yellow 1996 Ferrari F355 Spider and chasing after Sean Connery in a "borrowed" Humvee,a 1996 Hummer H1 to be exact.  The two went on a wild run up-and-down the hilly streets of San Francisco, wrecking a few police cars, a bottled water delivery truck, and a city cable car that tumbled down a hill destroying the yellow Ferrari.  That almost brought tears to my eyes.

1969 Dodge Charger RT from Death Proof

As I watched the movie Death Proof when it first came out in the theaters in 2007, I thought it was the most boring movie ever made.  That is until it got around to the car scene during the second half which was the best part of the movie and maybe the best car chase in years.  Not too many special effects.  And it highlighted the muscle cars, one of which (the one Kurt Russel drove) was a 1969 Dodge Charger RT.

The movie which I thought was pretty simple.  It's an homage by Quentin Tarantino to the great car movies such as Bullitt (1968) and Gone in 60 Seconds (1974).  In Death Proof, Stuntman Mike played by Kurt Russell was a nutcase who used his car to kill women by crashing into them in high speed chases.  He survived these crashes because he reinforced his cars, making it "death proof" for collision.

The storyline was flimsy and the characters were annoying, but the car scenes were awesome.  Stuntman Mike used two cars in the movie which to me were the stars, a Chevy Nova when he killed the first set of girls (Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd, Sydney Poitier, and Rose McGowan) and a 1969 Dodge Charger which he pitted in a long car chase against a 1970 Dodge Challenger driven and ridden by the second group of girls (Tracie Thoms, Rosario Dawson, and Zoe Bell).
